Photos: Indonesian Woman Gives Birth To Baby With Two Heads And A Set Of Internal Organs
On Monday, a woman delivered a baby girl born with two heads and one body in a hospital in Gresik on the East Java province of Indonesia.
The infant, weighing in at 4.2 kg, was diagnosed with Parapagus, a rare form of partial twinning where there are two heads and necks side by side on one torso, and she is currently in an incubator under keen observation at the General Hospital.
She was also diagnosed with respiratory failure from birth and has been attached to a heart and respiratory monitor as doctors and nurses keep a close watch on her, MailOnline reports.
The infant’s rare condition is said to be different from conjoined twins as she has only one set of internal organs, only one heart which makes it impossible to separate them and save both their lives.
The extremely rare case is thought to be brought on during the early stages of pregnancy as a result of genetic mutation.
