Disturbing Photo Of A Young Boy Covered In Blood After Airstrike In Syria Goes Viral
Syrian opposition activists have released disturbing footage showing a young boy who was rescued from the rubble in the aftermath of a devastating airstrike in Aleppo.
The heartbreaking photo of the 5-year-old Syrian boy, Omran Daqneesh, dazed and bloodied in the back of an ambulance after surviving the blast in Syria city of Aleppo has become a symbol of the horror of the country’s civil war, Telegraph reports.
He was covered with dust, dirt and dried blood caked to his body. Footage shows him glancing around at his surroundings before rubbing his bleeding face only to discover his hand is left covered in blood.
Omran was injured in the blast on Wednesday evening along with four other children, one woman and two young men, his head injury was treated and was released later that night.
A doctor, Osama Abu al-Ezz in Aleppo identified the boy and confirmed he was brought to the hospital known as “M10” on Wednesday night following an airstrike on the rebel-held district of Qaterji with head wounds — but no brain injury — and was later discharged.
According to reports, more than 300,000 Syrians are estimated to have been killed in the country’s civil war and it is impossible to know how many civilians have died in airstrikes in Aleppo in recent weeks.
