Update: See Faces Of Mother And Son Who Stole A Day Old Baby In Imo State
Yesterday, news broke about a day old baby boy kidnapped from a maternity home and how the Imo State police command rescued and reunited the baby with his family (read here).
The child kidnappers, a mother and her teenage son, Ngozi Anyanwu and Goodluck Anyanwu, who specialize in stealing babies in Imo State, were arrested by operatives of the Imo State Command and their faces have now been revealed.
According to Punch, the baby simply identified as, Chukwunoso, was kidnapped from a maternity in Isiala Mbano Council Area of the state.
While parading the suspects before newsmen in Owerri, the state Commissioner, Taiwo Lakanu, said when the command received the news of the sudden disappearance of a newborn baby on August 19, 2016, his men immediately swung into action and arrested the kidnappers.
He added that though the baby, was kidnapped the same day he was delivered, the response system put in place by his command ensured he was recovered from his kidnappers from their hideout in Umuelemai in Isiala Mbano Council Area of the state.
“On August 19, I received a distress call about the stealing of a day old male child in Isiala Mbano council area of the state. We promptly swung into action and immediately recovered the baby unhurt within 48 hours at the kidnappers den in Umuelemai.
I am happy to announce to you that we have handed over the baby to his parents and that the suspects would be charged to court,” he said.
Ngozi Anyanwu, who confessed to the crime, said she stole the baby to punish the matron of the maternity, who she alleged, had refused to pay her the money she (matron) owed her.
Anyanwu said she never intended to sell the baby or harm him, but to make sure that the matron paid her.
Meanwhile, the elated mother of the baby, Mrs. Uchechi Ekwedike, has commended the commissioner of Police, disclosing that the suspects stole the baby at their second attempt.

Useless mother and son. They are lucky they weren’t caught by civilians and given jungle justice because that’s what they deserve.

If the matron is owing you, how does that relate with an innocent mother and a baby??? You would have reported to the police, now you’re going to jail and the matron hasn’t paid you.
