#InternationalDayOfTheGirlChild: “Empowering Girls Through Education Will Make Our World Move Forward” – Toyin Saraki
As today marks the International day of the girl child, wife of the Senate president and founder-president, The Wellbeing Foundation Africa, Toyin Ojora-Saraki took to her page to celebrate and advocate for the girl child across the world, saying empowering women and girls through education will make the world move forward.
Celebrating all girl children, the 52-year-old mum of four posted:
”Today marks#InternationalDayoftheGirl. We need to make early investments on our girls, because without empowering women and girls, our world will not move forward.
Girls need to be empowered through education, so they can make informed decisions on their health and safety.
I have witnessed firsthand that whatever you teach a girl, she will carry it with her to womanhood, so we need to#LetGirlsLearn
If a girl is not registered at birth or in a school, she is invisible to the government, hence the need to work to ensure that girls do not remain invisible by recording their lives and circumstances.
We should play our part in bringing visibility to girls and ensure the global goals deliver for girls everywhere.”
