“Never thought this could happen to me.” Mum Recounts How She Delivered Her Baby Herself
Tenishsa Rambert, a Chicago native, loved to watch medical programs during her pregnancy. During an episode of one of her programs, she saw a woman delivering a a baby inside a car, she looked to her husband and said, “that doesn’t happen in real life.”
Tenisha, was preparing for bed when she began to feel contractions. It was about 1:45 am. As the contractions intensified, she asked her husband to call 911 because she felt the baby was coming.
Marshall, Tenisha’s husband, got her in the car and began driving to the hospital. He had only been driving for a few minutes when she realized that her baby wasn’t going to wait. Marshall immediately pulled off the expressway to park as Tenisha, knew she could not hold the baby in till they get to the hospital.
Tenisha said; “I’m thinking, just accept it. Get him here, get him here safely, I was in pain, it’s a bit jarring at firs. I jumped up and he was coming”
Marshall concord and said, it was an overwhelming moment, adding that “she’s screaming, the baby’s screaming, I scream. It was just too much excitement all in once place, in one little tight area, Marshall said. So I was just hoping that I didn’t serve and hit no one.”
The happy mother was filled with happiness at the sight of her bundle of joy, a healthy baby boy who arrived around 1:55 am, exactly 10 minutes they left their home.
She said, “I just held him. I wrapped him up tight. I was just happy that he was crying, and okay, he had all his fingers, all his toes. So he was just amazing.”
Baby Miller, who arrived three days late, weighed 6 pounds and 11 ounces and is happy and healthy along side his older brother and sister.
Fire fighters who arrived at the scene helped to keep baby and mum warm till the arrival of the paramedics who took the overjoyed family to the hospital. Tanisha who admitted that pregnancy has taught her a vital lesson said, “Every pregnancy is different, she said. So just go along with the ride and have fun.”
