“I Didn’t Know If I Was Ever Going To Give Birth To A Child” Nicole Kidman Opens Up About Her Past Fertility Struggles
Oscar award winning actress, Nicole Kidman, is blessed with four children. The Aussie actress who has two adopted children with first husband Tom Cruise, and two biological children with present husband Keith Urban, has been very outspoken about her love for children and her struggles to have them.
Nicole who calls her children her biggest joys, revealed to Who Magazine that the journey was not always an easy one. Nicole who conceived her first child, Sunday Rose, at the age of 41 said:
“I had tried and failed and failed and failed. I’ve had an ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages, and I’ve had fertility treatments. I’ve done all the stuff you can possibly do to try to get pregnant. So the way it just happened with Sunday was like, ‘What’? The percentages were so low. It is the miracle in my life”
Nicole who conceived her fourth child, Faith Margaret, via a surrogate, had this to say in a recent interview with Vogue Australia.
“I knew that I was going to have a child and that it didn’t matter how, I actually didn’t know if I was ever going to give birth to a child, I always knew I’d adopt, I just always wanted a child” she said
Nicole, 49, who is currently promoting her new movie, ‘Lion’ which is about adoption, drew inspiration from her past experience for the movie. She, explained that the bond between mother and child, goes beyond blood, adding that;
“I suppose the thing that drew me to Lion was that strong maternal theme that runs through the entire film and the power of that. We have many mothers, biological, adoptive but the way in which mothers can love and the power of that and that launches you off into the world”
Nicole said in an interview, that despite her huge stardom, she wants everyone to know, she struggles like every other person. Although, she has talked about wanting another child, Nicole is however content with her present life and family.
