Mother Arrested Alongside 5 Other Suspects Over Sale of her One-day-old Baby in Lagos State
Miss Onyinyechi Osoneye, has been arrested by the Decoy Team of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos Police Command over the sale of her one-day-old baby the sum of N250,000.
PM News Nigeria learnt that Onyinyechi had help from her mother, Joy Osoneye, who assisted her in concealing her pregnancy from her father, who had a strict policy over having a child out of wedlock. They then proceeded to sell the innocent child to Mr and Mrs Ike Nwata for the said amount.
Onyinyechi was said to have delivered the baby at Peninsula Hospital, Ikota, Lekki – Ajah Expressway, where Glory Ehinmi, 35, took the child from her and handed him over to Prisca Okocha, the owner of Peculiar Hospital, Orile, who is said to have offered Onyinyechi’s mother N250,000 and also brought the couple who bought the baby. Upon heavy interrogation, Prisca confessed to have sold the baby for N850, 000 but gave the mother N250, 000.
Onyinyechi could not be interviewed as she wept all through the period of the investigation. The baby has been handed over to the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs while the five suspects have been transferred to Gender Office, State Headquarters, Ikeja for further investigations.
