These group of mums know that the time to get serious about getting things done is when the children are asleep. So if you want to be efficient too, pick the time of day that’s most productive for you and guard it like its a matter of life and death. Just remember, burning the candle at both ends only leads to fatigue and crankiness. Pick one or the other and still make it a priority to get a good nights sleep.
2. She approaches her To-Do list differently.
All mums have to-do lists that never seem to end. Knowing how to tackle this is where the difference comes to play. Instead of dividing them into tasks blocks, they divide them into time blocks. They know that it would probably take them an hour for laundry, an hour for dinner, an hour to go to the market e.t.c. They then approach them on basis of importance and urgency. Leaving what can’t be done till the next day.
3. She handles tasks with urgency
Procrastination is an enemy to all. When you put off a task, chances are you will never get around to doing it. The procrastination struggle is real people, but it’s easily overcome by putting an end to the habit of putting things off. Any task that can be completed immediately, should be done immediately. This is a secret that effective mums have uncovered.
4. She sets her environment for success
Her environment, no matter the time of day is set to help her. When she goes to bed at night, she already has her outfit for work put out carefully, so she is not struggling to pick one the next morning. She probably even has outfits for the week set out. Her shoes are sorted for the week, her purse is arranged every night, which is a struggle all women have, having an organised purse. No matter how little, her environment is set to make life easier for her.
5. She puts her energy into the things that matter for the people that matter
Her family comes first. She puts all her time and attention into making them feel cared for and loved. Yes, she has friends and work colleagues, but she knows where to draw the line and not waste valuable time on people and things that are not deserving of her efforts.
6. She has no problem saying “no.”
To be effective, you have to know when to say “yes” and when to say “no.” Most mums are guilty of over-exerting themselves by doing too much. Learn to say “no” to things that don’t fit your schedule or won’t make you feel like you’re contributing in a meaningful way. You do not owe anybody any explanations for declining a wedding party, or a birthday party, or whatever it is. Smile and say no thank you.
