2017 Children’s Day: Bayelsa State Govt Tasks Parents on Proper Upbringing of Children
To mark 2017 Children’s Day celebration today, May 27, the Bayelsa State Government has called on parents to imbibe the habit of inculcating the right virtues into their children and wards for a better future and society.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Jonathan Obuebite, made the call in Yenagoa on Friday, May 26, noting that it’s the duty of every parent and guardian to ensure that every child enjoyed access to education in all strata of life, especially in their conduct and character outside the home, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
The Commissioner, who also noted that the Children’s Day is a day to have fun, urged parents, guardians, teachers or caregivers to renew their commitment towards the welfare of children and to teach them to live an ideal life.
In addition, he called on adults to use the occasion to imbibe the qualities of a child, which is warmth, simplicity, accommodating and peaceful dispositions.
”The day is a call to everyone to remember those children who are sick, abused and unhappy, because every child has the right to be looked after by parents and family members.
Children need healthy food, safety at home and school, good education and special care to children with special needs.
Children should always remember that the Children’s Day celebration is an occasion to imbibe the values of discipline, sense of order, cleanliness, beauty, and above all, innocence.
This is because they are the leaders of tomorrow and in no time, the onus will be on them to build a sound and strong state and nation.
There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children, there is no duty more important than ensuring that their safety and rights are respected, that their welfare is respected, that their lives are free from fear and that they grow in peace.
That is why the Governor Seriake Dickson led Restoration Administration is committed to providing quality education for every child and security for all Bayelsans,” Obuebite said in a statement.
He then wished all the children a happy celebration and prayed God should guide and protect them.
Nice one. Happy children’s day to all the Nigerian children.
