UPDATE! The Terminally-ill Baby Boy Who Moved The World, Charlie Gard | Parents Fight Final Battle
Parents of terminally ill baby Charlie Gard have heartbreakingly decided to let their baby go. Chris Gard and Connie Yates have made a ‘final wish to put him to bed in his own cot and let him ‘slip away’.
The parents of Charlie condemned the doctors yesterday after they made the heartbreaking decision. Connie Yates reduced a courtroom to tears when she accused Great Ormond Street Hospital of wasting valuable time until her little boy no longer had any hope.
“We are so sorry we couldn’t save you, We had the chance but we weren’t allowed. Sweet dreams baby. Sleep tight our beautiful little boy,” she said.
Charlie’s life-support system will be withdrawn after his parents reluctantly gave up their eight-month crusade to win treatment for his extremely rare and devastating muscle-wasting condition.
Miss Yates declared that the legacy of her ‘sweet, gorgeous, innocent little boy would be to save other sufferers of his rare condition. She vowed to help others battle medics so no parent would have to go through what they did.
She said Charlie had a greater impact on the world in 11 months than most do in a lifetime. Miss Yates told the court she wished to spend her sons last precious moments with him.
“We are now going to spend our last precious moments with our son Charlie, who unfortunately won’t make his first birthday in just under two weeks’ time.”
Members of a ‘Charlie’s Army‘ of supporters burst into tears outside court and screeched into megaphones about the hospital for failing the 11-month-old baby boy.
Charlie Gard’s mother returned to the High Court today, 25th of July 2017, and begged a judge to let him come home to die after doctors refused their ‘last wish’.
Great Ormond Street Hospital have concerns about whether it is ‘practically’ possible to move him from the ward to his parents’ home in south-west London, and want to avoid him suffering more pain.

They indicated that providing intensive care to Charlie outside a hospital setting was not simple. Charlie’s parents’ lawyers said the hospital had not visited the family home to check if it was possible.
Charlie’s lungs are too weak to function without the help of an artificial ventilator, which he is hooked up to in the pediatric intensive care unit of the London hospital.
A mobile ventilator unit would be needed along with a team of medics if he is moved home. His parents have offered to pay for this privately to give him support for the short time he has left.
Charlie was born a healthy baby was born on August 4, 2016 weighing 8lb 3oz, he appeared to be a perfectly healthy baby, but two weeks after, he started losing weight.
In October, he was transferred to Great Ormond Street where tests found he was suffering from an incredibly rare mitochondrial depletion syndrome. His strain of the disease was so rare he is believed to have been only the 16th sufferer in the world.
Charlie‘s parents have displayed the true meaning of parenting during this period of their child’s struggle for survival. They showed no sign of backing out and fought for their little boy.
We pray for a miracle, Our hearts goes to Charlie Gard and his parents! World-hero-baby.
This is devastating.
