Amazing Moment Pregnant Doctor, Hours from Own Labour, Delivers Another Patient’s Baby in Distress
A Kentucky doctor who was in her own hospital room preparing to give birth to her second baby heard screaming from the room next door.
Immediately, she jumped in to help, delivering that patient’s baby because the on-call doctor was out of the building.
According to PEOPLE, Dr. Amanda Hess, an obstetrician and gynecologist was at Frankfort Regional Hospital over the weekend preparing to be induced when she overheard nurses saying that another mother needed to deliver right away because the baby was in distress.

Few hours away from delivering her own child, Dr Amanda could not care less as she wrapped her self up and jumped out of her own bed and went into the woman’s own room and helped her out. It was an amazing moment in the hospital.
According to Amanda, she recognized the woman’s voice, Leah Halliday-Johnson when she was screaming as a patient from her practice who she happened to have seen the week before for a final pre-natal appointment.
The woman, Leah Halliday was fully dilated and nurses asked her to try not to push because the on-call doctor was still on his way back from his break. Hess had already put on her patient gown to prepare for her induction when she realized that the other patient needed immediate attention.

Narrating how it happened, Hess said she realized the child was arriving faster than expected with the umbilical cord loosely wrapped around her neck. She said:
“My husband actually said, ‘Is that woman screaming? I just put on another gown to cover up my backside and put on some boots over my shoes, to keep from getting any fluid and all that stuff on me, and went down to her room, and I knew her,”
Hess added that she recognized Johnson as one of her patients that she had performed a check-up on days before. Johnson had called her then actions pretty amazing.

“I feel very lucky she was there and the type of person she is and step up to do what she did, We really appreciate her,” Leah said.
Hess, a doctor of osteopathic medicine certified in obstetrics and gynecology, later delivered her second child, Ellen Joyce. Both moms and babies are reportedly doing well and Hess is expected to take eight months for her maternity leave.

“I had actually taken a call the day before, so I thought really that I was working up to the last minute. But this was literally ’til the last second,” Hess concluded.
Even though an heavily pregnant woman is prone to be in some type of mood and feel tired, Dr Hess did not seem to care about what is next and what is before, she only cared about helping Leah and she did it.
Doctors and nurses have big hearts. They put other people first before themselves. God bless Dr Hess’ good heart and congratulations to them both.
