Respect My Tradition! Rapper Wale Not Sorry for Spraying Money on Daughter
Nigerian-American rapper, Wale doesn’t mind people calling him out for literally showering his baby girl, Oluwakemi with cash on her birthday because he’s used to the cultural ignorance.
The father of one was asked by TMZ what he made of haters criticizing the video of his daughter sitting in a pile of bills at her first birthday party. Some people likened it to “making it rain” at a strip club. He did not care.
Wale celebrated the birthday of his daughter on Sunday in style as friends and family came around to party with the little one. Wale shared a video of the party as Kemi is seated on the floor with friends surrounded by dollar bills.
Instead of getting pissed off though … Wale’s using this as a teachable moment. He explained the Nigerian custom of “spraying,” and encouraged his haters to broaden their horizons.

“I don’t really care, that is what they feel, i mean that’s what their law made of its ignorance in this country sometimes of other cultures, I mean I am used to it.
I aint sure mehn, I think you just got to respect other people’s traditions on all levels like before you speak on it you should know about it. I am proud of where I come from. Like my family’s legacy.
I mean this is what we do, I never even thought for a second that there was anythings wrong with it. Because that is how I grew, that’s how it was when i was growing up. I make music about our traditions and stuffs like that.”
As he put it, know before you speak.
