Horrible Reason 11-Year-Old Girl Was Burned with Hot Water by Friends
11-year-old Jamoneisha Merritt has been severely burned when her friends who allegedly poured scalding hot water on her during a sleepover.
The stunt was reportedly part of a social media phenomenon called the “hot water challenge,” in which an unsuspecting victim gets hot water thrown at them while the whole event is filmed.The girl suffered burns to her face, chest, back and shoulders according to the New York Daily.

However, police have arrested the 12-year-old girl who is accused of dumping the water on her, charging her with felony assault.
Narrating how the incident happened, police says Merritt was invited to a sleepover party on Sunday night at an apartment in Concourse Village.

As Merritt was sleeping, the 12-year-old allegedly poured scalding water on her and she was woken by the searing pain. She was quickly rushed to Harlem Hospital where she is currently receiving treatment.
Speaking outside the hospital, the victim’s uncle, Eugene Dalmida, 52, said:
”I think the only reason why she in good spirits is because she don’t actually see the damage done to her. They ain’t letting her see her face. I can’t bear to look at her… it gets me too upset.”
The victim’s mum, Ebony claimed she had previously been bullied by the girl who allegedly attacked her after inviting her to the sleepover Sunday night.

“She’s very sad. She’s emotionally messed up. She don’t understand why they did that to her (sic). She thought they was her friends.
I was told that they didn’t like her. And they just been bullying her. They’ve been on Snapchat. It’s been going on several times.
The girl admitted it. ‘I don’t like her. I wanted to do it’.”
Jamoneisha is not the first victim of the terrifying challenge craze.

Just last month, an 8-year-old Florida girl, Ki’ari Pope was also killed when she drank boiling water through a straw after being dared by her cousin to do so.
The girl’s throat was severely burned and later died.
Same last month, a boy in North Carolina also received severe burns after attempting the ”hot water challenge.”
Wesley Smith, 10, poured scalding hot water all over his body. Smith and his step brother were attempting the challenge after watching “hot water challenge” videos online. He will require several surgeries to recover.
