See Report Card Shane Jackson Created For His Autistic Daughter After Her School Report Card Left Her in Tears
The proud father of an autistic little girl is receiving accolades from the internet for his adorable reaction to his daughter’s school report card, after she became upset for letting everyone down with her low grades.
10-year-old Sophie Jackson who has autism spectrum disorder became very upset after receiving low grades on her year four report card this week.
Shane Jackson told how his daughter cried as she told him she had “let everyone down” with her grades.
”She cried and said “I’ve let everyone down”,” the super dad posted on Twitter on Wednesday. ”Sophie and my partner were so upset, mainly because she had tried so hard,” said the dad, who is the national president of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia.
In an effort to cheer up the Tasmanian schoolgirl, Dr Jackson who said “Sophie loves her teacher” and appreciated the support all her teachers give to the students, crafted his own report card for his daughter, giving her straight As for her sense of humour, imagination, drawing skills and “best daughter ever”.
He tweeted a picture of the new report card, which has since gone viral.

Dr Jackson said he was away when his wife sent him a copy of their daughter’s report card and told him how devastated Sophie was.
”I was away in Melbourne and my daughter and my wife were upset. I felt so powerless. I wanted to hug Sophie and make her feel better, so I thought I should take this to Twitter.”
His inspiring parenting skill has gained a huge amount of attention on Twitter, with people from across the world praising his adorable gesture.
Some responded saying they would adopt the approach with their own children with autism who, like Sophie, are not excelling at school.
One of the thousand responses to Dr Jackson’s tweet awarded him with a ‘Master of Dad’ degree.

Mr Jackson told Daily Mail Australia he was extremely happy to see such a positive response on Twitter.
Dr Jackson said the messages on social media left his daughter with a “beaming smile”.
“The response has been overwhelming,” he updated in a follow-up tweet. “And she has loved the positive twitter comments – especially on her art,” he added.
“Sophie feels so supported by everyone in the twitter world. Sophie was over the moon with her ‘new’ report.”

He said it was important to show other children with learning difficulties they were “not alone”.
”The best impact has been on Sophie. Next day she bumped out of the house, beaming, ready for school. As a parent of an autistic child I’d like to tell other parents that they are not alone as I understand it can get challenging,” he said.
Mr Jackson also said Sophie has a very supportive academic staff at her school.
”This is in no way against her or any other teacher. Sophie has a fantastic teacher. There’s a marking process, according to which Sophie did well,” he said.
