What Do You Think of This Video Released By the Federal Ministry Of Health On Children and Tobacco?
This is about tobacco: its sales, consumption, its exposure to the underaged plus its effect on them. Now, this isn’t just interesting, but very interesting! Not only should they not be exposed to tobacco for their own personal use nor third party smoke, the Federal Ministry of Health is equally saying that they should not be sent to buy tobacco for adults.
This public awareness effort heralds the outright banning of the sales and use of tobacco by underaged children.
The Federal Ministry of Health has warned that the sales of tobacco to this category of children is causing damages to them, as it affects their development in life.
The ministry released a short story on how Tobacco sales and promotion negatively affects children.
According to the Ministry, the diseases associated with 2nd-hand smoke are respiratory and ear infections, asthma and sudden infant death.
The Ministry noted that the National Tobacco Control Act 2015 prohibited the sales of cigarettes and other Tobacco products to underaged kids – that is children who are aged below 18.
According to the ministry, implementation would begin soon to enforce the law but public awareness efforts will herald the activity. The ministry released a video calling for the stoppage of tobacco sales to kids, adding that adults should not expose kids to tobacco or send them to buy same for them.
The message is clear but the what is questionable is the video released by the ministry to drive home their message.
