Why It Is Evil To Assault Your Wife – Pastor Joshua Adeoye Speaks For Women
Domestic violence is an unwelcome ‘epidemic’ that is speedily spreading across the human terrain, and it is sad it has been allowed to linger on till now, when there ought to have been a clearly spelt out ‘reward’ for offenders. Lending a voice to the issue, Pastor Joshua Adeoye of Good News Church of Christ, Ilorin, Kwara State tags the act as, “Evil”.
The cleric on Thursday, August 23; advised men against assaulting their wives considering the lasting psychological effect it could have on them. He gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin, describing such an act as “evil’’.
According to the man of God, assault on women is almost becoming a way of life in the society, as most men have no respect for their wives.
“Some men assault their wives in the public, not minding the effect. They have the sick mentality that their wives are their property and can be treated anyhow.

When you beat or insult a woman, it lasts in their memory; they will not be able to concentrate and properly carry out their daily activities.
Women are not slaves, they are help mates. Men must learn to regard their wives as weaker vessels. Africans must emulate the western world by according some measures of respect to the womenfolk.
The rights of women are well protected in most advanced countries unlike Africa, where women are being treated as slaves,” he said.

Pastor Adeoye, in addition, called on the government at all levels, the media and religious leaders to join in the campaign against the maltreatment of women[ so that the larger society can move forward.
