Mums: 13 Things You Must Start Doing
It takes years to figure out a lot of things about who we are, our experiences and the best way to apply ourselves at every growing point of life. It does get to the point where we have a nagging need to be deliberate about the outcomes for our life.
Here are 13 things you should start doing if you aren’t doing so already.
1. Lose Weight
It doesn’t have to be anything rigorous or strict compliance to a local gym schedule. You can exercise in the comfort of your home. You can do bits till you break a sweat at different times of the day. Make it a mission to look finer, feel healthier and be in top shape as you can be.
2. Improve Your Manners
Good manners are infectious while bad ones are a turn-off. If you have not made self-evaluation a thing, please do. Practice politeness, communication, self-restraint, and discipline. If you don’t want your kids to use profane words, you too must never use them. You are doing something wrong if you are concerned that your child may imbibe your habits.
3. Be Present
‘Together yet apart’ is the new normal in today’s fast-paced world. Gadgets and technology are gradually causing us to miss out on healthy, physical conversations. If you are the mum whose been so attached to her phone and other devices, it’s time to put your phone down and pay attention to what truly matters – family and friends.
4. Read, Read, Then Read
If you do not have the time and money to travel physically, then let your mind do the traveling by reading a book. Reading can be not only empowering but also liberating and therapeutic. Make it a habit to read and see how much more energized and positive you will be.
5. Travel
If you can afford it, by all means, travel. Traveling is a most rewarding and eye-opening experience that will fill you with an appreciation for life like never before. In reality, traveling is an education in itself where you get to learn about and appreciate other cultures and people. Life is like a book, as they say, to not travel is like reading the same page of a great book.

7. Learn Something New
Give your life a new lease by stimulating your brain. Challenge your brain each day by learning something new. Keeping your brain active can help prevent memory loss as you age.
8. Make Conscious Effort To Grow
How close to your dreams has been a couch potato taken you? It’s time to exchange that lifestyle for a more deliberate one. So, you love to bake? it’s time to push yourself a little and try to bake for people in exchange for an extra income. Attend seminars, symposiums, and workshops that will improve whatever skills you already have.
9. Have A Good Attitude
If you haven’t been doing so, it’s time to start practicing gratitude, taking responsibility for your actions or inactions and remaining calm in difficult situations. Be kind, humble and gracious to your spouse, kids, family, and friends.
10. Have The Courage To Say No
Saying “no” can be difficult but sometimes it can be the one thing holding you back from being happy. Even while you’re kind and gracious, you should learn to draw healthy boundaries and not feel guilty about saying ‘No’ to emotional, material or physical demands that unsettle you.
11. Spend Time With Yourself
Take time out to be with yourself and reconnect with your own essence. Get to know who you really are, away from all the hype and noise of the crowd. Do this often, examine your thoughts and appearance and then take care of both. This includes loving yourself and taking your physical and emotional wellbeing seriously.
