Young Girl, Arantza Popo’s Design To Honour Her Mum Wins Doodle For Google Competition
An appreciative girl, Arantza Peña Popo, has won the 11th edition of the Doodle for Google competition. The young girl’s Doodle beat over 200,000 submissions to be declared the winner of Google’s annual competition.
This year’s theme was ‘When I grow up, I hope’ and Popo titled her Doodle, ‘Once you get it, give it back’.
Popo who is a valedictorian of her high school used her design to create what she plans to do for her mum when she is old enough to pay her for taking care of her. It shows her in the future standing behind her mother; the two are pictured in front of a framed photo of her mother when she was young holding Popo when she was a baby.

The young girl’s drawing made to honour her mum has now won the 2019 Doodle for Google competition. Speaking with Google on why she created the Doodle, Popo said:
“I think it was just a chance to thank her for all she’d done.
Sometimes I think of the cost of raising a child all the way to adulthood
and since I know I can’t instantly pay my mom back hundreds of thousands of dollars, I can least pay her back in a sincere doodle.”
She was announced as the winner of the competition by TV host Jimmy Fallon during his show, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, on Monday, August 12.
Google users were greeted by Popo’s design when they opened the homepage after the clock struck midnight on the East Coast.
