Coronavirus Second Wave: Lagos State Extends Stay-at-home For Civil Servants
Amid fear of the COVID-19 second wave, Lagos state government has directed civil servants from Grade Level 14 and below to remain and continue working from home.
This directive was issued on Sunday, January 3, in a statement signed by the Head of Service (HoS) Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
It would be recalled that on Friday evening, December 18, Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu ordered civil servants in the state below level 14 to start working from home as COVID-19 cases spiked again .
The governor equally banned concerts, carnivals and street parties until further notice. He added that all night clubs in the state must also shut down immediately.
In a subsequent development, the Lagos government said the workers must continue working from home till January 18, 2021.
This, according to the state government, will help to stem the tide of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The directive excludes staff on essential duty as well as first responders.

The statement read:
”Governor @jidesanwooluhas extended the stay-at- home order for all State Public Servants on Grade Levels 14 and below to Monday, 18th January, 2021 to stem the tide of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A statement signed by the Head of Service, @HMOKUNOLA1 noted that the directive excludes staff on essential duty as well as First Responders, urging all public servants to stay safe and ensure continued adherence to all COVID-19 protocols in order to rid the State of the pandemic.
Muri-Okunola also urged all staff to join the virtual Y2021 First Work Day Prayer for all Public Servants in the State via Zoom platform with Meeting ID: 857 4418 2571; Password: 100200 from 7.45a.m on Monday, 4th January, 2021.
While maintaining that the service will hold online due to COVID-19, the HoS wished all staff a prosperous and fulfilling new year.”
