Mum-Of-One, Ini Edo On Why She Doesn’t Consider Herself A Feminist
One of Nollywood’s talented actresses, Ini Edo has revealed why she does not consider herself a feminist.
The 40-year-old mum shared this in a recent interview with Taymesan on the ‘Tea with Taypod’ podcast, while speaking on the contentious term ‘feminism’.
According to the movie star, she is not struggling for the ‘King’ position as most women are, nor is she cut out for fighting for equal rights with men.
She went on to reveal that she was raised to respect and value men.
She averred that she is content with being a woman and a “queen” as long as her partner does not oppress her and allows her to be herself.
She said in part,
“Being a feminist means different thing to different people. I love to protect women’s rights and I feel the need for equality, but I am also a structured person. I have been raised a certain way. I am raised to respect and value men.
I want to be a woman and also want to be able to be a queen. I am not struggling for the King’s position. I am comfortable being a queen as long as there is nothing hovering my crown.”
