National Issue: Iroko TV Boss, Jason Njoku Laments Lack Of Traffic On Nigerian Roads And The Implication On Businesses
Co-founder and CEO of iROKO TV, Jason Njoku, has spoken about the lack of traffic in Lagos state and its implication on businesses.
In a series of tweets he shared on his handle, the father of three said he arrived Lagos state on Tuesday, August 8, and was shocked to see the absence of cars on the road.
The successful businessman said that he can only imagine the economic devastation occurring on an individual basis. He asked:
“Where did all the cars go? How does that normalise? What is the new normal?”
He added that everywhere is empty and that the lack of traffic shows that consumption has definitely collapsed.

Just landed in Nigeria. The lack of traffic in Lagos is eerie, like some zombie apocalypse. I can imagine the economic devastation occurring on an individual basis. Where did all the cars go? How does that normalise? What is the new normal?
Twitter vs Actual Nigeria is surreal. The reality feels so different to being on ground. The middle & working classes are suffering. Everywhere is empty. Restaurants, hotels, roads. Consumption has definitely collapsed. You can see it clearly in FMCG. Maybe I’m just a hater though.”
