Former BBNaija Winner, Phyna Speaks Out On Why She Ditched Her Family Surname
Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Josephine Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has shared more details about her estrangement from her family.
Speaking to TVC NEWS Entertainment reporter, Theophilus Elamah, the actress spoke about the issues that led to her dropping her family surname.
A few weeks ago, Phyna announced that she was dropping her family name. The announcement was not the first time she has publicly had issues with her family.
Months after she won the Big Brother Naija, her father granted an interview, accusing her of abandoning them. Phyna responded, accusing her family of expecting too much from her.
Speaking now on why she chose to drop her surname, Phyna noted that her decision stems from the neglect she has been receiving over the years.
She noted that she was tired of begging and wanting everyone to be in her life. Phyna added that it is just her way of accepting what has always been the reality, that her family has never seen her as one of their own.
According to her, no family member has reached out to her since she announced plans to drop her surname.
She also said that she has been doing life alone for so long and she has been coping well, so dropping her surname was just her way of making it official.
Phyna added that she’s currently by herself and that she doesn’t need anyone to stress her out.
