Nigerian Doctor Rages After Husband Refused To Consent To His Wife Having CS To Deliver Their Breech Twins, Other Doctors Share Their Experiences

A medical doctor, Ify has expressed outrage after a pregnant woman who was about to deliver twins was denied consent by her husband to undergo cesarean section.

The doctor explained that the babies were breech, meaning one or both babies are positioned bottom or feet first in the uterus instead of head-first.

The solution suggested by doctors was a C-section but the husband refused to give consent.

Narrating the incident on X, the doctor wrote:

“A woman is in labour with twins, it’s breech. She is asking her husband for consent and he refuses.

“I’m angry that a full, grown adult woman is asking for consent to save her and her children’s lives and you say I’m pushing feminist agenda. You have the same IQ as manure.”

Another doctor narrated how he experienced a similar incident. He wrote:

“One asked me to wait till evening before we do CS while his wife was in labour. Bride price list should start including Sworn Affidavit from the man and his family going forward.”

Another doctor shared:

“Some women can’t make the decision on their own because who would pay? It is a sad thing to think about really. And some men make such decisions because of their family.

I once had a patient on insurance who didn’t want her husband to know she was going to do CS because of his family.”
