Mohbad’s Widow, Omowunmi Shares Moments Leading To The Singer’s Tragic Passing

Omowunmi, the embattled wife of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba aka Mohbad has shared a detailed account of the events leading to his passing.

During a recent appearance on TVC’s Your View show, the mother of one recalled how her husband reacted badly after receiving injections from a nurse called in to treat his wounds in their house.

According to Wunmi, the nurse arrived at around 2 p.m. while she was in the kitchen preparing for their son Liam’s five-month celebration. She followed the nurse upstairs, where they decided to treat Mohbad in the master bedroom due to space constraints.

Recalling the moment, she said,

“The nurse examined the wounded part, and I informed her that my husband was an ulcer patient, so she should be careful with what she administered. I asked about the injections, and she mentioned tetanus and other medications.

She gave him the first and second injections without issue, but when she administered the third, he immediately asked her to take it out, saying he needed to throw up and urinate.”

Wunmi described how she helped Mohbad to the restroom, where he vomited and urinated. However, upon returning, he suddenly fell and began screaming for water, saying his heart was burning.

“We poured water on him, and he asked for the air conditioner because he was feeling extremely hot inside.

He started having goosebumps and continued throwing up, so we moved him to Liam’s room, where there was an AC. Still, he was uncomfortable, so we sought help from a neighbor to take him to the hospital because his car was faulty,”

she narrated.

Due to traffic, they had to transport him on a bike to the hospital. Sadly, upon arrival, the doctor pronounced him dead.

Mohbad’s tragic passing on September 12, 2023, sparked widespread reactions and calls for justice, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding his death.

Wunmi also revealed how she met the late singer. The mother of one disclosed that she met Mohbad 12 years ago when they were both teenagers on social media app 2Go.

She stated they began their relationship as friends before progressing to lovers. Omowunmi said,

“I met him when I was 13 on 2Go. That was 12 years ago. I used to be a rapper and he sang, too, so we started as friends. We were very young then. He was 15. He proposed relationship to me and I accepted. We later got married and had a child together.”

Omowunmi also addressed allegation of physical altercation with her husband before his passing.

She debunked the allegation, stating that no relationship or marriage is perfect, as conflicts are inevitable.

According to Wunmi, whenever they had issues, she would inform her father-in-law, claiming that her father-in-law is now using it against her. She stated:

Wunmi also spoke out against the intense scrutiny and backlash she has faced since the death of her husband, claiming she is “the most bullied widow” in the country.

She alleged that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, has been at the forefront of the attacks against her, turning people against her over his persistent demand for a DNA test to determine the paternity of her son, Liam.

“I have nothing to hide. I don’t have an issue with my father-in-law asking for a DNA test, but it’s the way he is going about it,”

she stated.

She mentioned that she and her father-in-law were best friends before her husband’s passing. She emphasised that he was the one who pressured both her and her late husband into having a child when they weren’t ready, influencing them through fasting and prayer.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and his father buried him less than 24 hours later in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Amid ongoing controversy surrounding his death, authorities exhumed his body on September 21 for an autopsy. However, the results are still pending.

Joseph Aloba has maintained that Mohbad will only be reburied once the autopsy results are released and a DNA test confirms Liam’s paternity.
