‘I Was In An Abusive Marriage For 10 Years’ – Actress Ayo Adesanya Spills On Her Bitter Marital Ordeal, Alcoholism
Veteran actress, Ayo Adesanya is opening up about her personal life and crashed marriage.
In an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, the single mum of one revealed that she was in an abusive marriage for 10 years, which drove her to become an alcoholīc.
She recounted how her ex-husband would beat her anywhere he saw her. Ayo also narrated how her ex stopped her from acting and threatened to pluck out her eyes with a knife.
According to her, she couldn’t leave him because of the shame that people would say she couldn’t keep a man. Ayo noted how Bimbo Akintola and some of her colleagues got angry because she couldn’t leave her abuser.
She recalled sending their son away to Ibadan at 1 year old because he was jealous of the attention she was giving to the little boy.
The talented movie star also revealed why her next relationship didn’t work out and her journey back to Nollywood.
“Anywhere my ex-husband saw me, he would beat me. He beat me so much, I became an alcoholīc. But I couldn’t leave because of the shame that people would say I couldn’t keep a man.”
