It’s A Baby Girl For The Jonas: Kevin and Danielle Sell ‘Announcement Rights’
Kevin and Danielle Jonas have been criticized for selling out their special moment to Dreft, a detergent company. The announcement of the birth of the Jonas’ baby girl Alena Rose was made via a tweet sponsored by the said company.
Daily Mail UK, reports,
Kevin Jonas announced the birth of his newborn daughter Alena Rose with a tweet sponsored by a washing detergent company which bizarrely seemed to have sponsored the birth. His wife Danielle went into labour on Sunday morning and the Jonas Brothers vocalist shared images from the delivery room on his Instagram account. But it was laundry detergent firm Dreft that had the proud honour of revealing the name – Alena Rose Jonas – and a snap of a tired mother and baby. The picture showed the tot wrapped up in a blanket while her doting mother, wearing diamond earrings, looked on.
- Poor taste: Baby Jonas also had her own hashtag on Twitter and fans were kept updated on her journey into the world via Twitter
Eschewing the usual celebrity magazine deal, Kevin and Danielle appeared to have an arrangement with Dreft, who had the first picture of the baby and also got involved with live tweeting the birth. Dreft shared the picture on its Twitter account with the caption ‘On this day, a little star was born. Meet Alena Rose Jonas #babyJonas (sic).’
And Dreft appear to have been involved all the way through, tweeting updates throughout Danielle’s labour. The messages included ‘Waiting to welcome #babyjonas to a world of amazing, gentle clean!,’ ‘We’re as excited as you are! #BabyJonas,’ and ‘What a day! We’ll bring you the first photo of #BabyJonas as soon as she’s born (sic).’
Kevin wrote ‘#babyjonas is on the way!! Follow dreft for all the updates!!!!!!!!! It’s showtime #thisisnotadrill (sic) and also retweeted a number of tweets from the company about the birth of his baby. He also wrote: ‘Love using @Dreft as we prepare for Baby Girl! Follow @Dreft for exclusive content from our growing family!#BabyJonas #DreftAmazingbBabyDays.’
Danielle had also tweeted a number of messages about how excited she was to use the company during her pregnancy. She made reference to the firm’s app for parents of newborns, writing: ‘Don’t know how I would keep track of anything for baby without the #DreftAmazingBaby Days app! #ad’
