HORRIFIC: Grandmother On Trial For Killing Her 8 New Born Babies

In what has been described as the worst infant related crime case in the recent history of France, a grand mother Dominique Cottrez is facing trial after she was accused of multiple counts of first-degree murder of minors.

The Daily Mail reports:

Dominique Cottrez’s trial finally got underway in the northern city of Douai after she was accused of multiple counts of first-degree murder of minors.

The worst infanticide case in modern French history stunned the country when the babies were discovered in the family garden in Villers-au-Tertre, near Lille in 2010.

She has told investigators the children were the result of a long, incestuous relationship with her father.

The 51-year-old grandmother faces spending the rest of her life in prison if she is found guilty.

Cottrez, who has two adult daughters and several grandchildren, told investigators that over more than a decade, she carried eight babies to term and then killed them.

From 1989 to 2007 Cottrez killed eight of her newborn children, burying two of them in her back garden and keeping the other six in plastic bin bags inside the family home.

The 20 stone nurse’s obesity hid the pregnancies, which went unnoticed by her husband Pierre-Marie and their children.

Cottrez claims that she fell pregnant with the children as a result of having a long incestuous ‘affair’ with her father, farmer Oscar Lempereur who died in 2007, which she says began when she was a child.

Back in 2010, when the bodies of the eight newborns were first discovered, Cottrez’s two daughters paid tribute to their mother as ‘the best their is’ in an extraordinary show of support.

Cottrez’s husband Pierre-Marie and their two grown daughters say they noticed foul odors in various parts of the house, but thought they came from sewage, their dog – or even his feet feet.

Despite completing eight pregnancies, Cottrez has insisted that her husband knew absolutely nothing about them.

He was initially under suspicion of concealing the corpses, and failing to report the crimes, but was later freed because of lack of evidence.

Cottrez told investigators she was raped by her father – first when she was eight – and then repeatedly through her childhood and teenage years, according to judicial documents.

She said their relationship continued after she married, and that it became consenting – and even admitted she was in love with her father more than she was with her husband.

Cottrez told the investigating judge she had never used contraception or had an abortion because she had a phobia of doctors. Shockingly, she said the killing had become a ‘means of contraception’.

She said she told her father of the eight pregnancies and the eight murders, and investigators believe he could have helped her hide some of the bodies.
