Controversy As 21-Year-Old Insists He Is Alleged Dad’s Son After DNA Test Proves Otherwise

Shola Olusola Warah, a 21-year-old student of Federal College of Technology, Akure, his mum, Sarah, and other family members are reportedly at loggerheads with a former Kwara State House of Assembly member, Honourable Sulyman Warah, over the result of a recently conducted paternity test.

While Shola and the family insist the DNA test result is questionable and the lawmaker is indeed Shola’s biological father, the lawmaker, now married with four girls to another woman, insists though he dated Shola’s mother several years ago, Shola is not his biological son as the test confirmed. He added that he is willing to conduct another DNA test elsewhere.

Speaking on his plight with the Vanguard, a teary-eyed Shola said:

“Many times when I’m among my friends in school, and they begin to tell stories of what their fathers did for them I always feel terrible that I don’t have such stories to tell. Many times I’m frustrated but my faith in God and the knowledge about life  have kept me alive because I have a very strong hope that I will make it in life.

At 23, I don’t want anything from him, just for him to accept me as his son. I know that my God that had kept me till now will see me to the top. I want to know my biological father so that I can be psychologically balanced for life. I won’t be an outcast whenever I’m in the midst of people discussing their fathers. For all I know, I did not drop from heaven, I have never heard or read anything like that across the globe. Somebody must have been responsible for the pregnancy that led to my birth.

It’s only a woman that can tell the real father of a child, so when my mother told me about the whole scenario, I believed her.” 

Recalling her relationship with Shola’s alleged father 29 years ago, Shola’s mum, a businesswoman in Ilorin, now married with other children, said she was then in Ilorin Grammar School, (IGS) while Alhaji Warah was in a university.

She added that his family and friends were aware of their relationship and her subsequent pregnancy which Warah has denied being responsible for till date.

When the pressure from her son to meet his biological father became unbearable, she said she approached Warah on the need to have a DNA test conducted to finally get the paternity issue resolved. Sadly, the test result only confirmed Warah’s previous claim that Shola is not his son.

Shola has now written a petition over the DNA test conducted at a Diagnostic Centre in Ilorin, alleging foul play and copied relevant authorities.
