See What Happened To Officer Who Assaulted Pregnant Mum Leading To A Miscarriage
The DPO who allegedly assaulted the wife of a detainee, Risikat Bamidele, reportedly leading to the loss of her pregnancy (read here) has been dismissed.
According to the Punch, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, has launched an investigation into how a woman, Risikat Bamidele, lost a two-month-old pregnancy after the Divisional Police Officer of Kemta division allegedly tortured her.
It was gathered that the DPO had been relieved of his duty and had been summoned to the command.

The husband, Tunde Bamidele, told our correspondent on Wednesday that he had written a statement at the state headquarters of the command at Eleweran, Abeokuta, on what transpired between Friday and Sunday.
He said he chronicled how his wife lost her pregnancy and their ordeal in the hand of the policemen at Kemta division.
“One of the Deputy Commissioners was assigned to the case. I have written my statement and submitted to him,” he added.
Tunde said after he had submitted the statement, two policemen followed him to Kemta division, where the incident happened, to retrieve the case file.

He said the policemen also followed him to the General Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, where his wife is currently receiving medical attention, adding that they took statement from her.
Thirty -seven-year- old Risikat, had alleged that she was battered by Samuel at the station.
The victim, a non-teaching staff of Catholic Comprehensive High School, Onikolobo, Abeokuta, said her ordeal started when she went to the police station in respect of her husband, who was detained there.
She said her husband had been detained in the station last Friday in connection with a debt owed him by a contractor.
She said her husband had handed his telephone to her when she got to the station on Saturday, adding that as she was putting a call across to her brother-in-law, Vincent Olubodun, Samuel assaulted her for daring to make a call at the station.

The victim further alleged that the DPO handed her over to another policeman and instructed that she should be detained, adding that she was detained till Sunday.
She alleged that blood started dripping from her private parts around midnight on Saturday. She said, “My husband got the pad which I used before I was released the following day.”
On Monday, Risikat said she went to the hospital because she could not control the flow of blood again.
She said the doctors confirmed that “the pregnancy was no more there and that it has been aborted.”
The husband of the victim was detained at the police station for daring to request money owed him by a construction company, TSF Nigeria Limited.
He said, “Before we were detained, the DPO said we should write statements and I said I was not ready to write any statement. My wife came to the station because I am a diabetic and ulcer patient.”
Tunde added that policemen at the station collected N20, 000 from them before releasing them on bail.

Our correspondent gathered that the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, had sent signals to the CP to investigate the matter.
The CP, Abdulmajeed Ali, confirmed that the DPO had been relieved of his duty at the Kemta division over the alleged torture.
He said, “The DPO has been removed from his post. He has also been summoned to appear at the state command headquarters over the allegation. We will make our findings public.”
