GHANAIAN SNACK: Spicy Fried Plantain
By FC
Hey, mums! Spicy fried plantain called ‘Kelewele’ in Ghana is one tasty quick snack your whole family will surely love.
You’ll need
1 small onion
3 grains of selim (grounded)
2 thumb size ginger
Some chilli pepper
2 tbsp fish powder (optional)
Cooking oil
2 very ripe plantain (cut into smaller pieces)
1 tbsp seasoning or salt
SEE ALSO: Ghanaian Groundnut Soup & Riceball
How to prepare
Place onion, ginger, pepper, grains of selim and fish powder in a blender with a little water and blend till very smooth. Add seasoning to the mixture and pour it on the plantain. Mix everything together evenly and let it sit for 10- 15 minutes.
In a non stick frying pan, pour a favourable amount of oil and let it heat on medium heat. Fry plantain until lightly brown. Put the ripe plantain in a colander to allow the excess oil come out freely. Serve warm with some nuts.

Wow, great. I actually joined this page after seeing one rice with vegetables recipe circulating on fb. I prepared it and my hubby and kids went wow. I came to the website and found the groundnut soup which was the BOMB. It was so so delicious.
This is the first parenting magazine that i’ve seen on fb which regularly features food recipes from ” normal” people in their articles. The pictures tells- they don’t look professional and that’s what ilike abt it. Tells me that if i prepare them, they are going to look exactly as seen in the picture. You go online and search for recipes and after following instructions from A-Z, the colour looks totally different from the one you saw even though you used the same ingredience and same brand. They may taste good but ofcourse the appearance matters alot too. With what i’m seeing here. I Love this page already.
God bless whoever this FC is. Keep up the good work coz some of us are learning from you…lol.
Looks simple and tasty
