Girl Suicide Bomber ‘Chickened Out’ When She Saw Parents At IDP Camp

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — When three girls showed up Monday at the IDP camp for people forced from their homes as they fled the militant group Boko Haram, they were welcomed and offered a place to sleep.

These people who had sought refuge at the IDP shelter were confronted by the same horror they were fleeing from when two of these girls welcomed into their shelter turned on their newfound campmates on Tuesday, by detonating bombs that killed them and at least 58 people and injuring 78, the NY times reports.

The third girl, however, refused to detonate her bomb for very personal reasons.

“There were three female bombers who entered the camp around 6:30am disguised as displaced persons,” the head of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency said. “Two of them set off their explosives while the third refused after realizing her parents and siblings were in the camp.”

According to Yahoo, The third suspect informed military officials that they were sent by Boko Haram, which was planning on using more females to carry out future attacks. After surrendering to the authorities, the girl warned that future attacks were being planned for the camp, according to other emergency officials.
