“It Was The Longest 45 Minutes Ever” Man Returning from Honeymoon Narrates Istanbul Attack Ordeal
An Iraqi journalist and activist named Steven Nabil and his new wife were returning from their honeymoon when they came “face to face” with death during the terror attack on Ataturk airport, Istanbul, reports BBC News.
According to Nabil, one of the armed attackers approached him and his wife while waiting for a connecting flight to New York from their honeymoon.
Fortunately, they were able to get away from him. They then rushed to hide in a cupboard in a hairdresser’s shop to keep safe.
“It was the longest 45 minutes ever,” he said, in a series of tweets he posted on Twitter. He described waiting in the cupboard like “sitting ducks” and said he kept begging his wife “to keep calm because the noise might draw any attackers around.” He escaped unscathed, while his wife was injured.
