Mum Who Dumped Her Baby At A Church In Cross River Tells Why
A poor mum has stirred an outrage in Cross River State after she abandoned her one year and five months old son at the Assemblies of God Church premises along Ranch road, Obudu, and ran away.
CrossRiverWatch reports that the woman identified as Monica dumped the baby at about 2:30 PM last week Thursday with some clothes left at the Altar, after the district Reverend of the church, Francis Agianpuye, had given her N1,000 some days earlier.
Speaking about the incident, Agianpuye revealed that after he discovered the child, he organized some youths to find the mother to no avail, before reporting the matter to the Obudu division of the Nigeria Police. He subsequently took the boy back home and started taking care of him.

On Friday, Monica went back to the church to pick her child and when asked the reasons for her action, she said: “I have been here before to beg for money and you gave me N1,000, so, I know if I drop my child here you will still take care of him.”
She was later taken home by Reverend Agianpuye, where the Reverend met the boy’s father, one Bisong Abang, who was said to have gone to the farm and upon his return, said he had accepted the plan due to the hardship they are facing.
They were given N4,000 by Reverend Agianpuye as a palliative for their immediate needs.
