CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele’s Wife, Released Within 24 Hours
Wife of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Margaret Emefiele has been released. Yesterday, it was reported that the wife of CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele was abducted (read here) by heavy gunmen on Thursday along the Benin Agbor expressway.
According to family sources, Margaret was rescued by a combined team of security agencies; Army and Police, at Ugoneki near Benin City on Friday night.
The CBN governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele has praised the security agencies for their gallantry in bringing his wife back home within 24 hours.
Emefiele also thanked the Delta and Edo State governments, friends and well-wishers, who through their actions, prayers and goodwill, helped to bring this harrowing experience to a joyful end.
It was also gathered that the kidnappers had made contact with the CBN governor, demanding a N100 million in ransom but there was no information whether the ransom was paid or not.
To put an end to kidnapping in the state, the government of Edo state enacted a law prescribing death penalty on kidnappers.
