Since last week, the Internet has been agog with mixed reactions and criticisms after President Muhammadu Buhari said his wife, Aisha, belonged in his kitchen, and ‘the other room’ in response to an interview she granted the BBC Hausa (read here) where she said that she might not support her husband under the present circumstances if he seeks re-election in 2019.
In yet another explosive interview with DW’s Phil Gayle in Germany which has already gone viral online, the President insists that the place of his wife is in the kitchen and to take care of his home, adding that she should stay off politics.
Read below.
DW: Recently your wife criticised your choices for top jobs, and you responded by saying “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room.” What did you mean by that, sir?
Buhari: I am sure you have a house. You know where your kitchen is, you know where your living room is, and I believe your wife looks after all of that, even if she is working.
DW: That is your wife’s function?
Buhari: Yes, to look after me.
DW: And she should stay out of politics?
Buhari: I think so.
Hmmmmmm…..They should STOP all this bullshit, Nigeria wahala is bigger than all this joor, the people are hungry
dumb asss…
I knew he wasn’t joking like some people insisted he was. He just repeated it again. Clueless man.
This kitchen madness is making me sick. We have a lot of pressing issues in the country and this is what we should be talking about???
Hahaha. This is more like a comic relief considering the present state of our economy
Buhari, his, home, his wife his personal wahala. At least he didn’t say women belong in the kitchen, instead, he said even if working, the role of his wife is to take care of him. None of my business. Nigerians should learn to focus on important issues and not every words of politicians
