President Buhari Postpones Daughter’s Wedding Indefinitely
The President of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria, His excellency Muhammadu Buhari, has indefinitely postponed the wedding plans of his 21 year old daughter, Zara, to her fiance Ahmed Indimi.
The ceremony was scheduled to take place between Wednesday 30th November and Sunday 4th December, 2016. The president has however cancelled this.
Daily Trust reports that the President is not comfortable with the attention the media and public is giving his daughter, hence, the postponement.
It can be recalled that the groom’s family gave the bride to be 30 custom made Louis Vuitton suitcases with the initials ZBI (Zara Buhari Indimi), said to cost about £120, 000 (approximately N47,144,502, using the official rate of N392.87 to a pound).
The suitcases were delivered in 30 exotic cars. This was to follow tradition as the groom’s family from northern Nigeria is expected to give gifts known as ‘kayan lefe’ to the bride. These boxes are usually loaded with diamonds and gold jewelery, designer shoes, bags, super wax, laces, perfumes, designer underwear, cosmetics, jeans, tops and more.
An introduction ceremony between both families was held at the Aso Villa, Abuja on November 28.
