Divine Intervention? Read Betty Irabor’s Interesting Testimony about Finding a Nanny
Lately, there have been so many horror stories regarding hiring nannies. A lot of reports here and there about how nannies torture or kidnap their employers’ kids (read here) are now commonplace.
Well mom of two and Editor-in-Chief of Genevieve Magazine, Betty Irabor, shared her experience with nannies. After several failed attempts at getting a good one, she was amazed at how she finally found the right one. Read her story below:
“Sunday Reflections. Mere coincidence or prayer answered???
When my daughter was born, I had nanny issues. In two months I had had a turn over of almost 8 nannies. I realised most of them didn’t want to work with babies.
I needed to go to back to work and take my baby to work with a nanny. I was so frustrated. In my frustration. I decided to pray, so impulsively I picked up the catholic prayer book of Saint Anthony..( which is my son’s baptismal name by the way”.
As I read a particular prayer,I got to a portion which read ; “Say your prayer request here” So I closed my eyes and prayed ” God, I need a good nanny” and added other prayers.
A few days later the door bell rang and there stood this amiable and smiling girl. What’s your name I asked” my name is Amaka” she smiled. “Baba sent me” ( baba was 70 and he ran a domestic help agency).
Amaka, walked in and lifted my daughter, strapped her on her back and took charge as if she had lived with us for ever. She stayed with us for nearly 14 years. She was no longer a maid but an Irabor.
She was honest, diligent, compassionate and an overall blessing. She eventually got married but she still visits. ( by the way, ST Anthony of Padua is known for performing minor and major miracles)
Now, was it the prayer I prayed or mere coincidence ? You tell me. Have a blessed Sunday.”
