See What Happened to Parents Who Used Their Son as Collateral for N8000 Loan

PUNCH Metro reports that parents of a boy named Samuel, has been detained by police as they gave him to a Lagos trader, Iya Meta, who gave them N8000 loan when they ran into financial crisis. The payment was said to be for the two months and that Samuel would work for her. However, the alleged trader then sent him to 3 women that live around Victoria Island, claiming to be traders also. They paid Iya Meta N72,000 for Samuel’s service and passed him to another family.

At the end of the 2 months, Idowu Isiaka, the victim’s step father went to retrieve his son and was told he could not be found. Iya Meta directed them to the Ijora Badia Police Division, where she said the matter was being handled by two policewomen, Titi and Funmilayo. The women told Samuel’s parents to pay the N72,000 given to Iya Meta for the victim’s service or else he would have to work till October 2017.

Punch however reports that on Thursday morning, Iya Meta placed a call to a correspondent, saying she had caught one of the three women involved.

“I was riding on a motorcycle when I sighted the three women on the road. When they saw me, they took to their heels. I gave them a chase and called on people that they were kidnappers. We eventually caught up with one of them, Iya Ibeji” she said over the phone

She was advised to report the case immediately to the police station. The boy’s father was informed of this new development and the case was transferred to the Adeniji Adele Police Division. In a turn of events, the Ijora division requested the mater be transferred back to them, and the Adeniji division obliged.

The victim’s parents were subsequently detained.
