So Inspiring! Woman Shares Emotional Pictures of Herself Delivering Her Preemie
The scariest part of having a baby sometimes is pushing a being, almost the size of a bowling ball out of your vagina! But women do it over and over again.
Shannon waters had no problems giving birth, until her daughter decided to come 6 weeks early. 40-year-old Shannon was reading a bedtime story to her 6-year-old daughter when her water broke. Shannon delivered Atira and she was quickly taken into the NICU for observation.
“I got a chance to hold her for, like, a minute before they asked the pediatrics team to take her and check her. I was worried, but I knew we were in a good hospital, and she looked good when I held her. So I tried to stay calm and sat there with the physician as they were stitching me up. It was probably about half hour to 45 minutes before they asked if I wanted to go and see her.”
Shannon says that when she eventually did get to see her baby girl who was on antibiotics for 48 hours, the experience was intense, emotional and beautiful.
“I’d just gone through this extremely intense experience — my water broke around 8:30 at night, and I think the baby was born a little after 3 a.m. — and then I saw her in an isolette,”
Cosmopolitan reports that Shannon says her experience delivering her preemie was chaotic, but she is glad it happened the way it did. Her daughter left the NICU 2 weeks later and Shannon is happy she has pictures to remember the extremely chaotic and beautiful day.
