Nigerians React to #FreeEvans Hashtag Currently Trending on Twitter
Nigerians have continued to react to a controversial hashtag that is currently trending on twitter: ‘#FreeEvans‘.
The hashtag is aimed at securing public sympathy for self-confessed Lagos kidnap kingpin, Chukwudemeje George Onwamadike a.k.a Evans. However, many Nigerians are not in support of this campaign.
You will recall previous news reports stating that for seven years, Evans was cunning, and had managed to escape detection or arrest.
He was, however, arrested last Saturday, June 10, after a police special squad caught up with him at his No. 3, Fred Shoboyede Street, Magodo, Lagos home.

According to Punch , he has confessed to being responsible for many high-profile kidnap cases spanning several states of the country, the most critical of which took place in Lagos, with at least one incident leading to the death of about four persons.
He has also confessed to earning money running into billions of Naira from his unlawful activities, having charged some of his victims up to $1 million each.
Many Nigerians are therefore concerned that any law-abiding citizen could campaign for his release.
