How I Became a Mother of Four After a PolyCystic Ovary Syndrome Diagnosis
When I was growing up, my menstrual cycle was irregular. I saw my periods like 4 to 5 times in a year. I was naive and did not know whether it was normal or not. I told one of my friends how my period comes once every 2 to 3 months and she told me it’s normal that another of her friend had a similar issue and that every woman is different. I had no idea was Polycystic Ovary Syndrome was.
Fast forward to after I got married, I could not conceive. Whenever my period skipped 2 months, I will be so happy thinking its pregnancy and then my period will just show. I will be so sad. So we decided to go to hospital and I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. They gave me more info about it and referred me to a specialist. Although I had been diagnosed me, they still wanted my husband to come for check up which he did.
Thereafter they just told him to take Vitamin C with zinc everyday just to enhance his sperm production. My treatment was to commence in December of 2008 in the U.K. However, I was travelling back to Nigeria to complete my education. The doctors advised me to go to school first and when I come back, we will start the treatment. I begged him to start that I will be monitored in Nigeria but he refused. He just told me to keep taking folic acid everyday till I returned which would have been in 9 months time. So I left the hospital sad.
We prayed and hubby just cheered me up saying “don’t worry, 9 months is not far, plus I’ll see you in 2 months time”. So I took my mind off pregnancy and was looking forward to returning in 9 months. I came back to Nigeria and and after 2 months hubby visited as promised, stayed for bit and returned to the UK.
Four weeks after hubby left, I fell ill. It was my first semester exam of my final year in the University. As usual I just bought malaria medicines and took them but the symptoms persisted. I was vomiting, spitting, had sour taste and fatigue etc. I called my hubby and cried. After explaining my predicament to him, he listened patiently and when he spoke he said to me, “Nne, you are pregnant”. I remembered laughing and mocking my self and replying him saying “which kind pregnant? Didn’t you hear the doctor said I have 4 chances in a year to get pregnant? (That’s what I was told because I see my period 4 times a year, while other women had 12 chances, I had 4).
So he suggested I carry out a pregnancy test which I did and Hallelujah, I was pregnant with my first. Since then I have had 3 more children making it 4. I didn’t need the treatment anymore. My Lord and my God made it perfect in his own time! Are you passing through something similar? Have FAITH my sister and the good Lord will make it happen for you in his own time in Jesus Name. Amen!
Very wonderful testimony.
Good Lord
