Popular Australian Athlete Turia Pitt Who Survived a Bush Fire is Expecting a Baby
Turia Pitt, popular Australian author and athlete, has announced that she and long term boyfriend, Micheal Hoskin are expecting their first child.
Turia, who is also a former Miss Australia contestant and part-time model, was trapped in a bush fire while running an outback marathon in Western Australia in 2011. It was a sad experience that left her with many scars on her face and skin.
In 2014, she won a multi-million dollar settlement and has gone on to write books. Pitt also revealed how her long-term boyfriend Michael Hoskin has supported her throughout her recovery and into a new chapter of her life revealing that she’s expecting her first child with him.
In an interview with ’60 Minutes’, she couldn’t contain her excitement when she talked about her pregnancy.
She said:
“We’re having a baby. It makes me stoked I’m still here. Not every woman in the world gets to experience this and I get to with my best friend, my partner ”
Hoskin said:
“We’re stoked we couldn’t be happier , Turia told me she’s the happiest she’s ever been. We’ve been through something pretty traumatic and I mean we’re past that now – and you forget how hard that was so I reckon this will be more fun.”
Pitt, 29, found out she was pregnant just three days before she was about to take part in a Mount Everest trek. She was set to lead the trek from May 10 to May 28 with Interplast, which provides life-changing surgery and medical training across the Asia-Pacific.
While the trek went ahead, she pulled out of it, saying it was too risky for her to do:
“I wanted to do the walk .. it’s not just myself I have to think about now,” she said.
She said her first reaction when she did her first pregnancy test which came back positive was: “Like f**k”
Awwwww wonderful. Congratulations to them.
