Lassa Fever Re-emerges | One Confirmed Dead in Plateau State
The deadly Lassa fever disease has re-emerged in Plateau State, causing the death of one person and sparking fear in the area.
The Plateau State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Kamshak Kudeng, confirmed the outbreak of the fever in an interview with newsmen in Jos on Friday.

Punch reports that at least one student has been confirmed dead at the Federal Government Girls’ College, Lantang in Plateau State, following the fresh outbreak of the disease in the institution.
According to the report, out of the four students that were tested for the disease, the results of three were positive, while the victim was said to have been buried on Friday.

In order to check the spread of the deadly disease and possible deaths, the state government said it would dispatch a team of Doctors to the affected community and place those who came in contact with them, including Doctors and Nurses who attended to them at Jos University Teaching Hospital on 21 days surveillance.
