Star Kid, Junior Boy Reveals How His Success Reconciled His Estranged Parents
Nigerian singer, Junior Boy, is a very happy kid at the moment. Not only for being the rave-of-the-moment, or bagging the Headies nomination as the rookie of the year, but for also being instrumental in changing the dynamics of the relationship between his estranged parents.
The ‘Irapada’ crooner, told PUNCH that after his parents’ separation, he was sent to live with his grandmother and was forced to fend for himself on the streets of Agege, Lagos. Fate shined on him when he discovered one of his talents.
He says:
“I did not stay with my parents as a child; I grew up with my grandmother at Agege. I grew up on the streets, fending for myself and my grandmother.
I was lucky and thankful to God that I did not have to do menial jobs to survive. I discovered my talent early in life and it helped me a lot.

I have been playing at the grass roots level since 2004 before I was able to play for the Babatunde Raji Fashola Football Club. We were the pioneer players in 2011.
From there, I moved to Union Bank Football Club; even though, I was very young then. They requested for me despite my age. I was about the youngest person in the team. My football career was good enough to put food on our table.
My mother and father are separated; my mother stays at Bariga while my father is at Ikorodu. They were not on speaking terms before but I can say that my success brought peace into their lives.

They are now very cordial as we speak and they talk regularly. Ever since I attained stardom, they speak so often and on most occasions, they talk about me. They are best of friends now and I am a very happy person now. I was able to bring my parents back together.”
