A heavily pregnant and mentally challenged teenager was rescued from the streets of Enugu a few days ago.
The teenager was reportedly seen roaming around Enugu – Agidi junction Amawbia, Awka Capital Territory when the state commissioner for Children and Women Affairs, Ndidi Mezue, mandated her team to evacuate the young lady for rehabilitation.
The team swung into action and promptly rescued the pregnant teen.
She was then taken to Community Children Home Awka where arrangement has been made for a psychiatrist to commence evaluation of her mental state and subsequent rehabilitation as she awaits her due date of delivery. Efforts to locate her family have been initiated.
