Federal Government Declares Eve Of 2019 Elections Work-Free Day
As part of efforts to aid smooth-running and encourage voters participation in the coming presidential and National Assembly elections, the Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, February 22, 2019, the eve of the elections as a public holiday.

Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Bello Dambazau (retd), made the declaration in Abuja on Wednesday. The Ministry of Interior in a statement on Wednesday night by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Georgina Ehuriah, however, excluded bankers and those offering essential services across the nation.
A part of the statement said the holiday is to enable citizens return to their polling units against the Saturday elections.

The 2019 elections was rescheduled in the early hours of the election day last week Saturday, drawing a lot of disappointed reactions from Nigerians.
The Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad also made a post confirming the announcement.
