The multitalented businesswoman was the last to arrive on the red carpet at 9:22 p.m, donning a black velvet gown. But before she was whisked away from the red carpet, she had a message for fellow black women.
Here’s what she had to say:
“I’m a black woman, I came from a black woman who came from a black woman and I’m gonna give birth to a black woman, so it’s a no-brainer.
That’s who I am, it’s the core of who I am, in spirit and in DNA. And I’ll always stand up for who I believe in, who I love, who I know and who I respect.
My mother has raised me to be an incredible woman.
My mother is an incredible example of how to fight through obstacles in life.
I’m sure her mom taught her that and that’s how I’m going to be.
We are impeccable, we’re special and the world is going to have to deal with that.”
