New Mum, @asherstuta Shares How Experiencing Motherhood Weaned Her Off Her Critical Judgment Of Mums Who Did Not Appear Stylish
A new mum who used to look at other mums and wonder why they “let themselves go” has disclosed how her own experience of motherhood recently put things in perspective for her. The beauty expert took to her Twitter handle @asherstuta to share that she marveled at how married mums did not often pay mind to their looks before she herself became a mother for the first time in 2018.
The mum-of-one shared that she did not understand how an otherwise stylish woman would pay less attention to her looks only on account of marriage or motherhood but her own experience has caused her to come face to face with the harsh reality that motherhood is a major sacrifice.
The new mum caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror a few months back and shared that she was totally humbled by her own reflection.
@asherstuta tweeted:
“Before 2018, it never understood why some married women ‘let themselves go’ why didn’t look as peng as they used to. Like “ko le to yen now” Lols!!! Until one day in the month of August 2019, I caught a glimpse of my self in the mirror.
“Na me be this????? Life will humble each and every one of us. Now this is me with A Nanny, Driver, and the most supportive/hands on Husband ever. Now imagine women without any form of help whatsoever. Women who work 9-5, no help, etc But you still expect Pengness!”
She added:
“You still want her to look like Beyoncé in Corset singing “let me cater to you” See ehn! Let’s just be thanking God in all situation.”
