Celebrity Mum-of-Three, Hadiza Blell (Di’Ja) Suggests What Must Be Done To End Child Marriage
Singer/mum-of-three, Hadiza Blell aka Di’ja has once again lent her voice to the social and psychological concerns that child marriages pose to young girls and the ripple effect that the practice generates on the society.
The songstress took to her Twitter account to condemn the practice while highlighting that sexual reproduction is not meant for young girls considering the potential and life-changing risk of Obstetric Fistula.

The mum-of-three said women should be allowed to grow up before marriage and procreation. She suggested men wait till women are 18 if they really mean well for their intended bride. She added that 18 is still too young but can be a start.
She wrote:
Our young girls need to be allowed to grow up before doing grown man and women things like marriage and anything to do with sexual reproduction.
If you really mean well you will at least give her until 18 years old, while honestly guiding her spirit. Not every one means well.
A follower mentioned that 18 is still too young and Di’ja added:
“That’s why I say “at least” legally the laws. But even that IS too young. Especially in today’s world.”
In a follow-up post, the mum-of-three wrote
What I’m working to do is to be able to have a conversation with both our men and women as to how to work to create functional young men and women in our communities.
There are laws and guidance we may not understand but today’s world and the world before are just not the same.
