‘Why A Lot Of People Think Boys Are Easier To Raise’ -Proud Mom, Simi Writes
Nigerian sensational singer, Simi has shared her opinion on why many people always think boys are easier to raise than girls.
The proud mother of an adorable baby girl, in a genuine post shared on her Instagram story, said many parents of the past generation raise their girls and let the boys raise themselves, hence why they think it’s easier to raise male children.
Simi said if a boy makes mistakes in life, society will refer to the popular cliche that ‘Boys will be Boys’. However, if a girl-child makes the same mistake, society tags her as wayward, so parents put more effort into raising girls.
According to the singer, the girl-child is taught to be a good wife, good mother, prudent, enduring, faithful and whatever the society’s version of perfect is but the male-child is only taught to make money and provide.
However, Simi said that she is happy about the current generation as the tide seems to be changing and more women realise they are more than what society expects.
Simi didn’t fail to advise some parents who still live in the past, to raise their boys well by teaching them to be good and teach the girls to be strong and to be more than enduring to please society because everyone is capable of fvcking up and doing the right thing as well.
Below is her full post:
“Many of our parents raised their girls and let the boys raise themselves. This is why lots of people think boys are easier to raise. If their boy’s fumble, they say ‘boys will be boy’s. If the girls fumble the exact same fumble, they say she’s wayward or she wasn’t raised right.
Hence, more effort is put into raising girls. She is taught to be a good wife, a good mom, prudent, enduring, faithful, perfect or whatever society’s version of perfect is.
Men are taught to make money and provide. The pressure to make good decisions is more intense for women. Men are usually able to make whatever choices or mistakes and to take more risks because society will excuse them because ‘boys will be boys. This is a privilege.
I do think the tide is changing a little with our generation. More women are realising they are more than what society expects. I love it for us.
Raise your boys well. Teach them to be good people, raise your girls well teach them to be strong and to be more. Everyone is equally capable of fucking up or of doing the right thing.
